So a while ago I talked about how contests might be a fearful for some writers and others love them. Well, I entered two first five pages contents held by two different chapters of the Romance Writer’s of America.
I’ve been hovering over my email waiting for the results from the first contest. Finally they came! I didn’t place but each entrant gets feedback from three judges. This is what I was most excited about. I printed off the scoring sheets and devoured every word that was said.
In short, I’m really happy with what the judges said. They gave me encouraging and helpful feedback to make my work stronger. The scoring sheet focuses on hook, story line, writing mechanics, voice and finally an overall score. With a comment and score for each section. I don’t know about you but this kind of feedback is gold!
What are you looking for regarding feedback for your work? I’d love to hear about it.
